Shopping Budget: June 2014

Monthly Shopping Budget

Well guys … I knew there would come a time when I would regret putting my spending habits out in the open for everyone to see.  I’m slightly embarrassed about how much I spent in June, but there were some investment pieces that just needed to be had.  For starters: this bright red anorak jacket for summer storms, a similar khaki anorak that I found in Chicago after it had been sold out for two months and a black leather trim trench coat (spring version here) that is completely out of season but will be an essential wardrobe staple come fall.

I know, I know — I can justify it all I want but the truth of the matter is that this month’s purchases was slightly outrageous. Luckily, I came in under budget for most of the year so far, leaving me only $25 over budget for the year to date.  I would say time to reel it in, but today officially kicks off my birthday month which means I probably won’t be acting fiscally responsible until August.  Can I get a YOLO?

All White Summer Outfit

It’s not every night you can dress up in all white, bring your own tablescape to the park and revel under the summer sky with a few thousand people.  Suffice it to say, this past weekend was one for the books.

All White Outfits for Guys and Girls

This past Saturday, I got together with my partner-in-crime Roxy and our respective loves for PopUp Dinner Brooklyn. The rules were simple: dress up in all white, bring your own food, drinks and table décor and let the magic unfold.

What to Wear to an All White Party

So … maybe it was easier said than done considering how much we had to transport from Manhattan to Brooklyn.  After a morning of outfit, food and décor preparations, we ended up bringing a multi-course meal, homemade sangria assembled on site and a spectacular tablescape that included Roxy’s wedding china (would you expect anything less?).  All that was missing was one of her signature bar carts — but hey, there’s always next year!

All White Summer Outfit

Once we settled in and sangria’ed up, the evening was ours for the making.  We wined, we dined and we danced to a guest performance by Ben Folds.  I couldn’t have created a better evening if I tried.  It’s unexpected, awe-inspiring, over-the-top moments like this that make summer in the city truly spectacular.
