shopping budget: january 2014

Ann Taylor LOFT January 2014

Earlier this year, I resolved to take control of my spending habits and set a monthly shopping budget of $350.  So far, the challenge has helped me evaluate the items I add to my wardrobe and avoid any tempting distractions.  At the end of each month, I’ll share my purchases with you and review my remaining budget for the year.

January started off slow.  I brought home a hefty holiday shopping haul and felt sartorially satisfied for most of the month.  Then came along a special reason to splurge (more on that later), plus two huge sales from Ann Taylor and LOFT.  Sales on sales galore!  I scored some majorly discounted finds and won a $30 gift card from a shopping event hosted by Sam of La Petite Pear.  In the end, I saved over $500 in discounts and came out $25.75 under budget, so I’d say that’s a win!

PURCHASES
Texture-Diamond Shirt: $24.75 (was $49.50)
Pleated Skirt Dress: $44.75 (was $89.50)
