I know it’s going to be a good rest of the week when my favorite brand is having a major sale – I’m talking 50% off everything at Ann TaylorAgain, I know, but a whole new delivery of spring styles just hit the stores and they’re already half off?! I’m definitely not mad about it.

Bow Back Floral Midi Dress (was $159, now $79.50)

First thing’s first: this floral/bow beauty. I love how the red and violet prints pop against the black background. It feels a little more refined than your average floral dress and can be worn during the day and into the evening. The best part has to be the back, because who doesn’t love a perfectly placed bow? I’m wearing a size 0 here – the waist fit perfectly and the hem hit me right above the ankle. I’d prefer this to be a little more midi-length, so I’m thinking about getting this in petite, which is 2″ shorter.

Striped Tassel Blouse (was $79;50, now $39.75)

Every since I started my new job a few months ago, I’ve been gravitating towards easy, romantic blouses. I really liked this one because, well – stripes and tassels – what’s not to love? The material is a littler thicker than the flowy tops that I’ve been wearing lately, but I still like it. I think it’s one of those versatile pieces that can be worn from work to weekend. I’m wearing an XS here, but per usual, the sleeves are a little long. I’ll probably order an XSP online.

Cold Shoulder Belted Dress (was $149, now $79.50)

This color of this cold shoulder dressswoon. It’s vibrant, but still feels super romantic thanks to the cut, the easy fabric and the belt detail. I don’t think I could ever justify $149 for a solid cold shoulder dress, but 50% off has me singing a different tune. This is one of those dresses that might sell out before it goes to markdown, so I’ll be pulling the trigger early on this one. I’m wearing a size 0 here and it fits perfectly in the waist, bust and shoulders.

Matte Jersey Bell Sleeve Top (was $59.50, now $29.75) / Floral Wide Leg Crop Pant (was $98, now $49)

Okay, I’m not sure I tucked my shirt in the most flattering way (feeling kind of frumpy), but I love this bell sleeve top. Another piece that’s easy to wear during or after work (plus it also comes in yellow). Not that I need any more, but I definitely brought the navy home with me! And then can we talk about these floral pants? Heart eyes. They come in a very fluid fabric, which makes them so comfy and easy to walk in. I’m wearing a size 2. They’re supposed to be cropped, but since they didn’t have a petite in stores, they actually wear like full-length on me – I kind of like it that way!

Skirt The Rules / Ann Taylor Fitting Room ReviewTassel Shell (was $59.50, now $29.75)

You know I love a good tassel, right? This one is a no brainer and definitely came home with me on the same day. It also comes in navy and yellow, which is already selling out of sizes fast. My only complaint about the cream color is that it’s a bit sheer (but not see-through), but I’ll deal. I love it too much! I’m wearing an XS here, but it also comes in petite!

After my fitting room sesh, I ended up pulling the trigger on the tassel top and the bell sleeve top, plus – not pictured here – this off the shoulder top, an off the shoulder striped dress and a bright red dress. I also have my eye on this tie front top (also comes in gingham!), which I didn’t see in stores yet. Ugh, AT stop stealing all of my money! Hope you score something special during this spring sale – happy shopping!

Spring Trends: White Sleeveless Vest

Sleeveless Vest (also comes in black) / Pink Crepe Shell / Skinny Jeans

This long white vest is actually a repeat from last spring – I remember it clearly, because I had added it to my shopping cart only to find out that it sold out super fast. I loved it paired with a blush pink top, but also think it would look so sharp over a black dress or a pair of pants.

Bird Print Bell Sleeve Blouse

Bird Print Bell Sleeve Top / Skinny Jeans

James might kill me if I buy another bell sleeved top, but how can I resist? This bird print blouse is just too cute to pass up – a little hint of the tropics and a whole lot of spring. This one’s going to be a conversation starter for sure. Side note: I’m wearing a regular XS here and the sleeve length is perfect!

Ann Taylor Fitting Room Try On: March 2017

Lacy Lantern Sleeve Top / Tweed Pencil Skirt

I’m going to be 100% honest right now: I think I have a low key obsession with crazy sleeves. The lantern silhouette is new to me, but feels so so romantic. The only thing is that I’d probably go for a petite XS here so that the sleeves hit closer to my wrists. I think the tweed pencil skirt balances things out nicely. Flowy and boho on top, all biz on the bottom.

White Scallop Hem Sleeve Top

Scallop Hem Top (also comes in black) / Skinny Jeans

This last one is short and sweet – literally. I’m such a sucker for scallops an I love that this one is cut a little smaller than usual (I think large scallop hems can look a little too girly sometimes). Just a heads up: this top is a little boxy. I tried pairing it with the tweed pencil skirt, but I looked like I had no shape. It looks much better styled with jeans.

That’s all I’ve got! I wish I had stuck around to try on more styles, but I had to dash out for pilates class. By the end of today, I suspect my online shopping cart will be full of new beauties for spring. Hope you get a chance to do the same today! Happy shopping!

9 Alternatives to the Blanket Scarf

It’s pretty safe to say that winter is here. For the first time all season, it felt bone-chilling cold in NYC. I broke out my first blanket scarf of the season yesterday, but quickly realized that I’m just not that into the trend anymore. Sure, it’s warm AF under a thick blanket scarf, but add on a sweater and a puffer coat and things start to feel a little too bulk for my liking. That’s why I rounded up nine cute and cozy alternatives to the blanket scarf, which fall into three styles that I’m absolutely loving for winter.
1. Cashmere
I love cashmere anything for its crazy soft touch, but it tends to skew on the pricier side (case in point: this plaid scarf). The bright side: this is the tie of year when a lot of winter accessories go on sale like this solid option which comes in six different colors or this colorblock style which comes in three different combos. It might seem like an investment upfront, but cashmere can instantly elevate your winter outfit and I think that’s well worth it!
2. Silk Squares
This trend is a little more fashion over function. If you’re unphased by the cold or are lucky enough to live in a warm weather year around, this is the perfection option for you. Silk square scarves have been popping up everywhere this season. They add the perfect pop of color to your outfit without any bulk. Ann Taylor has a ton of options that are on sale for an extra 60% off right now, including this gorgeous emerald scarf. Voilà – instant Parisian vibes!
3. Ponchos & Capes
Why wrap a scarf around your neck when you can just wear one around your entire body? Ponchos and capes are another favorite layering piece, especially around the office or while traveling. I’m obsessed with this buckled cape, this plaid poncho and this striped option!
Do you have a go to accessory to keep you warm in the winter? I would love to know!
