Skirt The Rules // How to Layer a Sweater

It’s been an interesting month in NYC so far.  Mother Nature decided to dump one last pile of snow on us before the temps hit a glorious 45°F this weekend (can you believe this Arizona girl gets excited about the mid-40’s?). The only downside of being stuck in between the end of the winter and the first signs of spring: waiting for the snow to melt.  It’s like we’re stuck in this wet and slushy limbo and — let me tell you — it’s not fun.

As we impatiently wait out this transition, you can probably find me kicking through mountains of dirty snow in a pair of leopard rain booties.  I’ve already traded in my thick knits for lighter layers, like this easy sweater and tunic combo and once it hits 50°F, I can almost guarantee that I’ll be bare legged.  Too soon?  Or not soon enough?  Spring, where you at?!

Winter Outfit // Sweater + Leggings + Beanie

On the last leg of our trip to Europe, we visited Germany.  We ate Christmas dinner at a 400+ year old beer hall, I watched my fiancé, dad and brother chug giant steins of beer.  Not your typical holiday with the fam, I’d say.

Sweater & Leggings

Munich was, by far, the coldest city of the trip.  It would snow for hours on end, which was a good enough reason to stay in, bundle up in a blanket scarf and relax for a bit.  We definitely needed it after a non-stop itinerary in London and Paris!  We eventually made it downtown for sightseeing and shopping (not necessarily in that order …), but I stayed bundled in a textured sweater and leggings, with a shirt and beanie that I borrowed from the mister for good measure.  It’s just as cold back in New York now, so I can pretty much guarantee this OOTD will be on heavy rotation for the next few weeks.

I don’t blame you for wanting to stay snuggled in your bed today.  Winter is here and it’s back with a vengeance.  With a high of 27°F in the NYC, you’ll likely find me bundled up in a thick sweater, a pair of leggings and rain booties.  I wish I could say a bold coat could brighten up my outlook, but let’s be real — it’s going to be a puffer jacket kind of day/week/winter.  I hope you’re staying warm today!
