Pre-Blooms

Spring Floral Print DressOver the past few weeks, temps have been fluctuating from 50°F to 20°F, leaving me barelegged one day and bundled up on another.  I think I speak for all of us when I say we’re ready to get off this climatic rollercoaster.Spring Floral Print Dress

So in honor of the first day of spring, I’m breaking out the floral prints.  It might not be warm enough to fly solo, but a classic trench coat and bright pink lipstick make the transition between seasons slightly more bearable.  Here’s hoping the weather follows suit soon!

Creature of Comfort

Lou & Grey Dress & Moto Jacket

Let’s be real: I’m usually the kind of girl that prioritizes comfort over appearance.  At any given time, I’ve got a pair of leopard flats in my bag and a couple of booties under my desk.  I love wearing heels, but I think the person who invented them is the devil.  Add the fact that it’s Wednesday, and I can probably guarantee you that my waistline involves a bit of elastic.Lou & Grey Dress & Moto Jacket

So I haven’t really painted a good picture of myself, but I promise there’s a moral to this story.  It used to be that style and comfort were mutually exclusive, but a LOFT’s newly reimagined lounge wear begs to different as it branches off into its own identity known as Lou & Grey.
Striped Sweater Moto JacketI scooped up a few new pieces from the line (including this sweater, moto jacket and tee dress) and I can’t tell you how obsessed I am with them.  Dressing up on Wednesdays just got a whole lot easier.Gold and Silver Bangles Knit Striped Moto Jacket

Spring Shoes

2014 Spring Shoes Trendsdress | booties | heels | wedges

It might not feel like it, but the official first day of spring is this Thursday and that’s the kind of occasion that calls for a new pair of shoes!  So whether you’re ready for open toes or not, there are three pairs that will get through every kind of occasion this season.

Spring Booties & Shoesone | two | three

Shoe #1: The Bootie.  Tired of wearing boots all winter long?  I feel your pain lady.  It’s not quite warm enough to bare my toes in NYC, so I’m gravitating toward a chunky heeled bootie (my current go to right here!).  I especially love them paired with a simple black dress and sans tights.  And the silver lining: booties season will give me some extra time to get my life together and give myself a pedicure!

Spring Shoe Trendsfour | five | six

Shoe #2: The Ankle Strap Heel.  I’m such a sucker for an ankle strap!  Whether they’re sleek and sultry to chunky and color blocked, I love that they how much they elevate an outfit.  If you’re on the more petite side, go for a thinner the strap.

Strappy Spring Wedgesseven | eight | nine

Shoe #3: The Strappy Wedge.  To all my Arizona friends who were already poolside back in January, you’ve probably skipped spring and headed straight into summer.  I’m slightly envious and counting down the days that I get to break out the strappy wedges.  I usually stumble around in heels, but wedges (especially a low wedge!) will always be jam.

What’s your shoe situation right now?  I’d love to hear what kind of kicks you’re looking forward to wearing this spring!
