Office Denim

Black & Blue Colorblock BlazerI’m lucky enough to work in an office where I can wear denim, but that doesn’t mean you’ll find me in a weekend-ready look every day of the week.  I try and keep my work and weekend outfits distinct, even if I’m wearing the same pair of jeans for both occasions.Black & Blue Colorblock Blazer The difference between denim on a Sunday and denim on a Monday?  Well, work wear calls for a bit more refinery, which usually means a tucked-in a blouse and a navy blazer paired with my favorite leopard heels.  Top it off with a little bit of lipstick and I feel polished, put together and ready to tackle the week!Black & Blue Colorblock Blazer Black & Blue Colorblock Blazer How to Wear Black & Blue Together How to Wear Black & Blue Together iPhone Mirror

Lighter Layers

Navy Anorak & Brown Leather Skirt

Another flashback to the weekend before last, when I was frolicking around the city with bare legs and a big smile.  To say that I’m over winter is an understatement.  I’m ready to burn my tights — all of them!  I’m pretty sure we all are.  But for now, while the east coast is getting pummeled by another storm, I’ll be dreaming of the days where the only layer I need is a  anorak jacket, a light sweater and a little bit of ginghamNavy Anorak & Brown Leather Skirt Navy Gingham Shirt & Brown Leather Skirt Navy Gingham Shirt & Brown Leather Skirt Navy Gingham Shirt & Brown Leather SkirtNavy Gingham Shirt & Brown Leather Skirt

how to: survive a polar vortex

How to Survive a Polar Vortex

Apparently, I never knew what a real winter felt like until now: the year of the polar vortex.  Last year, it snowed only three times over the course of several months.  This year, it snowed three times in a matter of days.  Let’s just say, my dog (who is also experiencing his first real winter) is not pleased.

While I still refuse to buy a puffer jacket, you’ll probably find me decked out in all other winter gear, trying to hold on for dear life until spring.  My winter uniform usually involves a chunky knit sweater and faux leather leggings (underneath of which there’s another layer of thermal wear).  I also prefer schlepping around the city with a crossbody bag so that I can keep my glove-covered hands properly shoved into my wool coat. So tell me, how are you surviving this year’s winter?  I’d love to know — unless you live in California or Arizona, in which case we’re not currently on speaking terms.
