Fall Essentials

When it comes to neutrals, black and white has kind of been my jam lately (see exhibit A and B).  But as we dive further into fall, I’m craving subdued hues that are a little richer and a little more luxe.  Enter the new color contenders: navy, dove grey, blush and camel.  Pieces like this moto jacket, this crossbody bag and this two-toned tote make for the perfect fall refresh on the classics and I’m dying to add them into the rotation.  What’ve you been craving lately?

There are two ways I usually wear my hair: pin-straight or in a loose curl.  As nuts as this might seem, I have never ever worn my hair up on the blog before and I rarely wear it up in real life (with the exception of the gym).  So when the team from The Stylisted swung by an NYFW pre-party hosted by Krista for hair and makeup, I figured: no time like the present (which is my grownup way of saying YOLO).

So we indulged in mimosas (lots of them) and hairspray (lots of it) before heading over to the RewardStyle Party on the rooftop of Empire Hotel.  I decided on a messy low bun full of braids and enough volume to make my baby Bump-It (circa 2008) jealous.  It was the perfect updo to match my jewel-toned cami and floral pencil skirt, making for the kind of look that you wouldn’t expect had one too many cocktails all weekend long.  Cheers friends!

White A-Line Skirt & Fall Accessories

We all know that the “No White After Labor Day” rule is long dead, but actually practicing what you preach is a whole ‘nother conversation.  Instead of throwing on head-to-toe whites and brights like you might during the summer, pick one crisp piece and pair it with a darker palette of fall shades.  I love the idea of a white flared skirt with a burgundy top or a sharp white tote contrasted against a simple black dress.  Balance is everything — especially when it means the difference between looking like you’re ready for fall versus looking like you’re on the walk of shame from Diddy’s white party.  How are you wearing white this season?
