While we’re on the subject of season-appropriate jackets, allow me to introduce you to my new summer showstopper: a bright red anorak jacket. You know I love this good utility jacket, so it’s no surprise that it was love at first sight with this bold-colored beauty. I promise you, summer storms feel slightly more bearable with this little nautical-inspired topper.

As an Arizona girl born and raised, jackets are the last thing that comes to mind during the summer, but it’s a whole ‘nother thing living on the east coast. The days are hot, but the nights get chilly and offices are usually freezing. And if you’re as unlucky as NYC was last week, summer rainstorms roll in on the regular. So lightweight jackets are now officially staple in my wardrobe. From anorak to denim to bombers — I don’t discriminate! When I think of moto jackets, black leather (or vegan leather!) is the first image that comes to mind. But when the temperatures rise and the humidity skyrockets (insert preemptive ugh here), the last thing I want to be feel is leather stuck to my skin. Lately, I’ve been exploring knit moto jackets as an alternative texture.
I’m loving this little cream number from LOFT, which happens to be a mish mash of French terry and lace. Throw it over a simple navy dress and this look will easily take you from work to weekend during warmer weather.
