Shopping Budget: May 2014

I wasn’t looking forward to tallying up May’s purchases for this month’s shopping budget, mostly because I partook in a bit of pre-vacation shopping before St. Martin. My favorite purchases of the month: pom pom scarves, printed shorts and a gorgeous pearl necklace.

Surprisingly though, I managed to stay under budget since most of the pieces I bought were relatively inexpensive … What can I say? I’m a sucker for cheap thrills! Aaaaand we’re back after a fabulous holiday weekend. My parents came into town (mom hasn’t been to NYC since 1994!), so we showed them a few of our favorite spots in the city and discovered a few new joints together. One of the highlights: finally checking out Ladurée on the Upper East Side. We went in for a box of macarons and came out with much more than expected.

As I’m sure you know, it’s not easy getting back on the grind after an extended weekend, but today’s outfit makes it slightly more bearable. I’m obsessed with this colorful bird print midi skirt from Chicwish. It’s a bit whimsy, slightly over the top and totally playful — what’s not to love? It’s the perfect piece to combat those post-vacay blues. Happy Tuesday my loves!

Case of the Tuesdays

You know what’s worse than a Monday? Coming back from a tropical vacation on a Tuesday. Rough, my friends, would be an understatement.

I wore this little outfit to work a few weeks ago, so let’s be real … I’m probably not looking this put together today. But a striped jacket and a brightly colored dress makes for one of my favorite work ensembles. Paired with my favorite ankle-strap heels, it’s a chic standby for when you’re having a major case of the Mondays … or Tuesdays … or any other weekday for that matter.
