Happy Friday! I’m kicking off the weekend with a new series my favorite of my favorite links around the Interwebs. I’ve shared iterations of a weekly recap before, but felt inspired by Hallie to revamp the formatting by order of importance: shopping, worthy reads and, of course, the latest and greatest around these parts. I’m all about spicing things up from time to time!

Skirt The Rules // Summer on Long Island

Last weekend, we went to Long Beach on Long Island to celebrate our friend Dara’s birthday and I think I started a love affair with the little beach town. It only took us 45 minutes to get there from NYC by train, but it felt like we were back on the West Coast for a moment. We spent the afternoon soaking up the sun and eating all of the fish tacos and I’m already itching to go back. I totally recommend it for a quick escape from the city!

The plans for this weekend? Mild to moderate activity. We’re staying put, which I’m genuinely excited about. It means I get to go back to my morning workout routine, have a lazy brunch with friends and maybe even re-enact our picnic in the park with the pup.

Anyways, here are my favorite clickables for the week.I hope you enjoy! Happy weekending, my friends!

One of the reasons that I love living in New York City is that there’s always something to do, and to my delightful surprise, a lot of the activities are free. Last Thursday, I ventured to the west side of town for the kickoff of Hudson RiverRocks – a series of free concerts on the pier. I definitely don’t hang out on the Hudson River enough, but I’ll take any excuse to be outdoors during the summer – especially when it involves live music, food trucks and good vibes.

I also paid a visit to the American Honey VIP Lounge, where they were serving up Wild Turkey American Honey® on the rocks or mixed into a deliciously sweet lemonade. Megan and I grabbed our mason jar mugs and watched the concert from backstage. You can’t really ask for a better summer night in NYC than that…

Well… as luck would have it, a storm rolled through just as the night was ending. We took cover in the American Honey VIP tent, polished off our drinks and made a mad dash to hail a cab. The other reason I love living in NYC: you can always count on the city to keep you on your toes! There are two more concerts slated for July 23 and August 6 – be sure to check it out!

Two Ways to Wear: Slip Dresses

Slip Dress // Panama Hat // Sunglasses // Necklace // Bag // Sandals // Cuff

There’s a direct correlation between high temps and how little effort I want to put into getting dressed in the morning. And as luck would have it, it’s hot hot hot outside. I’ve been gravitating towards simple dresses like this or this. I added this slinky number into my shopping card in every color I could get my hands on. I love it paired with a panama hat, a delicate necklace and a pair of statement sunglasses. Understated and effortless – or otherwise known as too lazy to do much else. Either way, I’ll take it.
