I love Europe so much. From New York, it’s an easy hop, skip and a flight away and yet every country we go to feels like a whole different world with so much to explore. So far, I’ve been to England, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy and The Netherlands. Spain has been on our bucket list for a while now (Portugal is on there too, but that’ll have to wait for another adventure. We started our trip in Madrid – mainly because Real Madrid is James’ favorite soccer team and they were playing at home that weekend. Other than that, I really wasn’t sure what to expect. I heard mixed reviews (e.g. that Madrid felt like any other major European city and that Barcelona was way better), but it turns out we really enjoyed it!
It was easy to get around, there were so many great coffee shops (tonic espressos were the best way to cool off in the heat) and there were a lot of museums, markets and parks to explore. We ended up using HotelTonight (use code JEDANG for $25 off) to snag a room at Dear Hotel and the views from the roof did not disappoint! I’m working on a list of places we visited while in Madrid, but in the meantime – cheers! May your Monday be short and your wanderlust strong!
I’m so glad you had a great time in Madrid! I actually studied abroad there my Junior year of college and I had the best time! This post really took me back!
OMG I loved Madrid! You will definitely love Portugal too!
