When I lived in Arizona, I think the most I ever spent was $40 for a flimsy pea coat from Forever 21. That was also when I thought 60°F was cold – ha! These days, I’ll pick up a statement coat from time to time (check out this plaid beauty here), but for the most part, I’m investing in jackets that will actually keep me warm at near-zero degree weather and will last for years to come.

Last winter, I picked up J.Crew’s Chateau Parka and this season, I added their Cocoon Coat in “sandstone” (aka beige). It’s been on my radar for a few seasons now, but thankfully, it’s a style that comes back year after year with slight modifications. I’m wearing size 2P, because the sleeves on a regular coat were a little too long. I probably I could’ve sized down even more, but 0P was sold out and I was desperate to get my hands on this style this year. What do we think? Any coats on your wishlist? It’s around that time where retailers start marking down winter styles, so keep an eye out for those pretty pieces to go on sale!
