As an Arizona girl born and raised, jackets are the last thing that comes to mind during the summer, but it’s a whole ‘nother thing living on the east coast. The days are hot, but the nights get chilly and offices are usually freezing. And if you’re as unlucky as NYC was last week, summer rainstorms roll in on the regular. So lightweight jackets are now officially staple in my wardrobe. From anorak to denim to bombers — I don’t discriminate! Summer is all about lightening up, so I’m switching my little black dresses for a few little whites. There’s something special about the LWD. GET THE LOOK

Even though I’m a bit on the short side (thanks mom and dad!), I love me a good maxi dress. There’s something undeniably feminine about a full-length frock. But still, at a staggering 5’2″, the perfect length is hard to come by. Sure, I could put in the extra effort to get them tailored, but I prefer picking up pieces that don’t require a 1-3 day wait time. They don’t call it ready-to-wear for nothing!

So when I put on this wallpaper floral maxi dress from LOFT, it was love at first sight. I bought it in petites, so the hem was already hovering perfectly above the ground — even while wearing flats! And oh hey there side slit — don’t mind if I channel a little Angelina Jolie. I’ll probably be scooping up this dress in turquoise ASAP because all dresses are 40% off at LOFT right now! Happy Monday!
