My days of wearing shorts and a tank are outnumbered, but I thought I’d give it one more go around while the weather still permits (helloooo high of 80’s this weekend!).  And although I’m ready to say goodbye to the heat, I’m not ready to part with the bright colors and playful patterns.  I’ll be holding onto those year ’round.

outfit for an occasion.

The little sis(-in-law) turns 21 today!  Holy smokes, doesn’t that make me feel old?  But hey, age is just a number and to celebrate the best one of them all, I compiled an outfit inspired by the birthday girl and her special occasion!

With an MK gold watch (I hear they make for good bday presents) to keep track of your power hour and a cutout dress that will surely round up the free drinks, I hope you get glammed up and have the most fab night ever!  Happy birthday Michelle!

first signs of fall.

Considering I live in Arizona where the temp doesn’t drop until November, I use the term “fall” pretty loosely.  But even though we’re still in the triple digits, there are hints of autumn all around (Sbux Pumpkin Spice Latte!).  From aisles of Halloween candy to racks full of coats (I start sweating just at the thought of outerwear in this weather), I can’t help but feel it’s time to put away the flip flops.

I’m left in a limbo of stylistic sorts.  It’s too hot to fully embrace fall fashion, but it’s too late in the year to be prancing around in a tank top and cut-off denim.  So after playing around in my closet last week, I accidentally concocted what might be the perfect solution.  I combined a lightweight frock (you can’t see it, but the cut of the upper half totally reads summer sundress) with a boldly patterned button-up shirt (last seen here).  Finally, the best of both worlds!
