Spring Shoes

2014 Spring Shoes Trendsdress | booties | heels | wedges

It might not feel like it, but the official first day of spring is this Thursday and that’s the kind of occasion that calls for a new pair of shoes!  So whether you’re ready for open toes or not, there are three pairs that will get through every kind of occasion this season.

Spring Booties & Shoesone | two | three

Shoe #1: The Bootie.  Tired of wearing boots all winter long?  I feel your pain lady.  It’s not quite warm enough to bare my toes in NYC, so I’m gravitating toward a chunky heeled bootie (my current go to right here!).  I especially love them paired with a simple black dress and sans tights.  And the silver lining: booties season will give me some extra time to get my life together and give myself a pedicure!

Shoe #2: The Ankle Strap Heel.  I’m such a sucker for an ankle strap!  Whether they’re sleek and sultry to chunky and color blocked, I love that they how much they elevate an outfit.  If you’re on the more petite side, go for a thinner the strap.

Strappy Spring Wedgesseven | eight | nine

Shoe #3: The Strappy Wedge.  To all my Arizona friends who were already poolside back in January, you’ve probably skipped spring and headed straight into summer.  I’m slightly envious and counting down the days that I get to break out the strappy wedges.  I usually stumble around in heels, but wedges (especially a low wedge!) will always be jam.

What’s your shoe situation right now?  I’d love to hear what kind of kicks you’re looking forward to wearing this spring!

Three Years

J.Crew Etta Sequin Pumps Three years ago today, I started this blog.  I bought a DSLR, threw together my first outfit (mixed prints nonetheless!) and dragged my boyfriend to the park to snap a few photos.  I had no idea what I was doing.
J.Crew Etta Sequin PumpsNot to mention, I was incredibly shy about blogging when it first launched.  There I was, in my second year of law school, planning outfits instead of writing outlines.  The worlds didn’t seem to mix, but I put myself out there in front of my friends, classmates and anyone else with internet access.  And I have never looked back.Black & White Stripes / Red Full Midi SkirtNow my blog is an extension of me and I couldn’t be happier.  I would say it’s a labor of love, but it doesn’t feel like labor ever.  I blog because I want to inspire others, but also because it inspires me.  It drives me to experiment with my personal style, to experience new things and to go beyond my comfort zone.Black Crystal Necklace & Striped Shirt This week, I’ve been looking back on how my style has evolved over the past three years, but what astounds me more is how much I’ve personally evolved since starting this blog.  I can genuinely say that I’m more confident, more colorful, more curious and hell of a lot happier for it.  Most of all, I’m so proud to have friends like you following along!  Here’s to many more stylish years to come! xo J.Crew Etta Sequin Pumps Skirt The Rules Red Midi Skirt 7

Rewind & Remix: A Three Year Retrospective (Part 2)

Gingham Shirt & Floral Dressyear one | shirt | dress | bracelet | bag | shoes

On Tuesday, I picked an outfit from each year of blogging to compare how my style has evolved over the years.  In honor of my blog turning three tomorrow, I’m doing it again!  #TBT anyone?

Let’s start with one of my favorite mixed print combos of all time: gingham and floral!  I’d still rock the duo today, but would probably pare down on the color palette.   Pinks and nudes make for a sophisticated color scheme, but the prints are just as fresh.

In year two, I fell in love with the jean jacket (I had never own one before that!) and was throwing it on over every dress in my closet.  I’m still in love with the denim topper, but I want to try my hand at a bright white jacket this spring.

And finally, I wore this bright and/or blinding number in year three.  I can’t wait to bust out the neons again this spring/summer, but am leaning towards tangerine as my weapon of choice.

If you haven’t figured it out by now, there are a few things about me that will always be constant: my panache for prints and my love for color.  But beyond that, my personal style is always changing and I can’t wait to see how it transforms for years to come.  Thanks for following along!
