On the Up and Up

There are two ways I usually wear my hair: pin-straight or in a loose curl. As nuts as this might seem, I have never ever worn my hair up on the blog before and I rarely wear it up in real life (with the exception of the gym). So when the team from The Stylisted swung by an NYFW pre-party hosted by Krista for hair and makeup, I figured: no time like the present (which is my grownup way of saying YOLO).

So we indulged in mimosas (lots of them) and hairspray (lots of it) before heading over to the RewardStyle Party on the rooftop of Empire Hotel. I decided on a messy low bun full of braids and enough volume to make my baby Bump-It (circa 2008) jealous. It was the perfect updo to match my jewel-toned cami and floral pencil skirt, making for the kind of look that you wouldn’t expect had one too many cocktails all weekend long. Cheers friends!

Refined & Relaxed

Just in case you haven’t checked your Instagram feed in the last 15 seconds, it’s New York Fashion Week guys. That means everyone and their (stylish) mother is in town for a week of runway shows, presentations and parties. It’s incredibly inspiring, partly dizzying and sometimes maddening, but regardless … I feel lucky to partake in a little part of the craziness.

I started off the week light — in schedule and in style — wearing my new favorite pair of black drawstring pants and a burgundy tank. Definitely a lighter look on the fashion week style scale, but this relaxed outfit went from launch party to runway show to dive bar to couch all in a matter of one night — a feat that I’m pretty sure Anna Wintour would approve of. A Flare for Leopard

Although my style has changed over the years, there’s one thing that’s in it for the long haul: my love for leopard. I don’t care what form it comes in — top, shoes, bag, underwear (sorry, don’t have a link for that one!) — if it’s spotted, I need it. If it’s a leopard skirt — game over. This flared skirt is the latest addition to my animal printed arsenal. I love it with all-black accessories (top, bag, sunglasses), but I can’t wait to play around with other pairings. Leopard is a neutral after all!
