There are a few things that I always check on my phone when I immediately wake up in the morning: my Instagram feed, any ongoing Words With Friends games and the weather. But when it says it “Feels Like 17°F” outside, the last thing I want to do is crawl out of bed. We’re in for a doozy this winter, which is enough justification for me to grab every bright, colorful coat in sight. While I just bought this coat in grey, I’m loving it in cherry red and will probably add this cocoon coat to arsenal soon. Let’s face it, we’re gonna need plenty of pep to get through this season. I may have missed the Zara blanket scarf bandwagon last year, but I have my eye on a few updated options to keep me warm this winter. Even for fall, they make the perfect layering, thrown over a cozy sweater dress or added to a simple t-shirt and a pair of ripped jeans. This cold weather accessory? So hot right now.

We all know that the “No White After Labor Day” rule is long dead, but actually practicing what you preach is a whole ‘nother conversation. Instead of throwing on head-to-toe whites and brights like you might during the summer, pick one crisp piece and pair it with a darker palette of fall shades. I love the idea of a white flared skirt with a burgundy top or a sharp white tote contrasted against a simple black dress. Balance is everything — especially when it means the difference between looking like you’re ready for fall versus looking like you’re on the walk of shame from Diddy’s white party.
