Bit of Blue

Banana Republic Shirt & SkirtI’m sharing my last batch of photos from my trip to San Diego two weeks ago.  Spring was already in full swing back west, which meant driving with the windows down and dining al fresco.   Weather like that called for a bold colored skirt, bare legs and a big ol’ smile, because it doesn’t get much better than that.

Bright & Breezy

Chartreuse & TurquoiseLet’s zip over to the other side of the country, where spring is actually in full effect (like it’s supposed to be).  This past weekend, I was in San Diego with my family and a trip to California calls for loads of color.  I pulled my brightest brights — a neon yellow sweater and a turquoise clutch — and basked in the breezy (not bone chilling!) weather.  Let’s hope I managed to bring some of that sunshine back with me to NYC!

how to: survive a polar vortex

How to Survive a Polar Vortex

Apparently, I never knew what a real winter felt like until now: the year of the polar vortex.  Last year, it snowed only three times over the course of several months.  This year, it snowed three times in a matter of days.  Let’s just say, my dog (who is also experiencing his first real winter) is not pleased.

While I still refuse to buy a puffer jacket, you’ll probably find me decked out in all other winter gear, trying to hold on for dear life until spring.  My winter uniform usually involves a chunky knit sweater and faux leather leggings (underneath of which there’s another layer of thermal wear).  I also prefer schlepping around the city with a crossbody bag so that I can keep my glove-covered hands properly shoved into my wool coat. So tell me, how are you surviving this year’s winter?  I’d love to know — unless you live in California or Arizona, in which case we’re not currently on speaking terms.
