They say April showers brings May flowers. I say skip the rain and go directly to the flower fields.
I’ve been to Texas a few times, but this is my first time experiencing the bluebonnets. We drove to Muleshoe Bend Recreation Area – a camping ground a little under an hour outside of Austin – and had entire fields of bluebonnets to ourselves! It really is a sight to be scene. Unlike the perfect lined tulip fields in Amsterdam or Seattle, this blue beauties are scattered every in a perfectly imperfect kind of way.
I imagined wearing a beautiful spring dress (like one of these) at the fields, but Texas was experiencing an unusual cold front when we were there (seriously, can a girl catch a break?!). Instead, I opted for this ivory lace shell (the detail is even prettier in person) and my favorite high waisted skinny jeans – a perfectly neutral outfit that lets all the bluebonnets stand out!
