How to Mix and Match Your Work Outfit

Office Inspired Style: Navy Blazer & Camel Skirt

J.Crew ‘Regent’ blazer in navy (25% off with code SHOPNOW) / Ann Taylor striped ruffle neck blouse (extra 40% off!) / Ann Taylor double pocket skirt (extra 40% off!) / Kendra Scott drusy pendant necklace / Movado ‘Bold’ bangle watch (c/o) / Ann Taylor buckle leather tote / Leopard flats

Things are looking a little different over here today. Read more after the jump to find out what I mean.

What to Wear to Work That's Not a Suit

For starters, I never really wear my hair straight, but I recently tested out the T3 SinglePass straightener and let’s just say that it does what it advertises: it straightens in an instant. I’m still trying to figure out the right technique, so if anyone’s a pro at creating curls or waves with a straightener … please teach me! In the meantime, you can just go ahead and pay attention to me from the neck down.

J.Crew Regent Blazer & Camel Skirt

The second thing that’s notably different today is that I’m actually dressed up (ha!). Working for a fashion company has it perks, the main one being that I can wear anything I want to the office. Rompers, slip dresses, leggings, or a big tulle skirt – you name it, I’ve worn it all. The one thing that I don’t sport very often though? A suit. A little ironic, considering that I work for a brand that is known primarily for its suiting and workwear.

White & Navy Striped Work Blouse

If we’re being 100% honest here, I donated all of my actual suits to charity about a year into my current job. I don’t work in a conservative office and I probably never will again (fingers crossed), but even if you do, it doesn’t mean that you can’t have a little fun with your workwear.

The Best Places to Shop for Work Clothes: J.Crew and Ann Taylor

I recently picked up this navy blazer while it was on sale (it’s currently 25% off right now!), but I had no interest in pairing it with a matching pant or skirt. Instead, I went for one of the most classic color combos out there with this camel double pocket skirt and a striped ruffle blouse. The result feels like the perfect balance between fresh and profesh. Who knew mixing and matching your work outfits could be so easy?

That’s a great look! When I worked in a fashion brand that was also classic no one at the office wore actual classic clothing and I thought that was great because everyone had their own style.

Oh I love this – what a perfect office look! You’re so lucky to work somewhere with a more fashionable dress code. I work in Washington DC with politicians and political types and this outfit would be perfect for my office! Love the pop of leopard :]
