Socialite tie front shift dress (only $46 – only a few sizes left!) / Army green vest / Karen Walker ‘Super Duper’ sunglasses / BaubleBar ‘Chevy’ collar necklace (c/o) / GiGi New York ‘Madison’ crossbody bag (c/o) / Gorjana ‘Carine’ mixed metals bracelet (c/o) / BP ‘Trolley’ ankle bootie / NARS matte lip pencil in ‘Cruella’
You know I’m all about keeping summer alive for as long as possible, so I’m adding a little longevity to my dresses with a few minor adjustments. First: the color palette is key. As much as I love my brights and neons, I came to terms with retiring them for the season. Instead, I’m holding onto dresses that are either neutral or have hints of darker colors in them. I love this dress because even though it’s a bold, summery print, the colors are a bit darker. I’ve also swapped out my bright pink lipstick for something a little moodier and more matte (this crimson-colored lip pencil was my go-to color last fall).
Next: the layers. I already talked about how an army green utility vest is the perfect transition piece for fall. You can throw it on pretty much anything – a printed dress or t-shirt and jeans – and you’ve got instant autumn vibes. Finally, it’s all about the accessories. I broke out my ankle booties for the first time this season and took my new navy crossbody bag out for a spin. Voilà! Consider this your fail-poof formula for wearing your summer dresses long into fall.
This is the cutest transition outfit for fall! I love a good army vest!
