A new year means new outfits and a new outlook on personal style.

James and I spent the holidays in San Diego with my family and flew back on New Year’s Eve just in time to celebrate with friends. I’m already missing the sunshine and warm weather, but it does feel good to be back (afterall, there’s no place like home).

I’m not really a New Year resolutions kind of girl, but the beginning of the year does bring about a desire for refresh. You may have seen on Snapchat (username: SkirtTheRules) last month, but I did a major purge of my closet after reading this book. I let go of loads of clothing that no longer brought me joy, sold a ton on Poshmark and donated even more to Goodwill. I’m planning to share more thoughts on this experience in its own post, so stay tuned!

But I also feel like I’m refreshing my style. Lately, I’ve been gravitating toward a neutral palette – it’s easy to put together pieces, doesn’t look overdone and makes me feel good. I’ve been collecting all things cream, beige and tan and have been wearing them nonstop – as in, you’re going to be seeing a lot of these ankle booties, this leather watch and this woven scarf in the future. I’m excited to evolve my wardrobe this year and so if there’s one resolution I’ll make, it’s to carefully curate my closet and only fill it with things that I love. Happy new year!
