Today, I’m partnering with Living Proof to chat about hair, which is kind of perfect, because I have a lot of it.
I started growing out my hair for our wedding back in May and then it just kept on going. I actually didn’t realize how long it was until we snapped this photo. As you might have guessed from my outfit photos, I curl my hair all the time – almost every day – so I don’t really notice it’s actual length until someone tells me how long my hair has grown (which I hear about once a week).
Length aside, it’s also pretty damaged from the constant abuse of my curling iron. I recently started noticing how dry/crunchy my strands felt, so I used Living Proof’s easy tool to figure out the best products for my current hair situation. I was especially excited to try out the Restore Mask Treatment. I’m what I like to call a “mask-aholic” and this one did not disappoint. After applying for just five minutes in the shower (in replacement of conditioner), my hair felt noticeably softer and smoother. Plus, it smells so good (all of the products do!). I’ve only used it twice now, so I can’t wait to see how the heeling progresses after a few weeks.
Another favorite is the Nightcap Overnight Perfector. It’s similar to the mask, but this one’s meant to be put on right before bedtime and left on overnight. I added a few pumps to my hair (focusing especially on the ends) and lo and behold: I woke up to softer, smoother, pretty smelling locks. Between this and the mask, my hair is definitely on the road to recovery!
Now that my long hair is feeling and looking better, it’s back to the curling iron (old habits die hard). I started by adding LP’s 5-in-1 Styling Treatment into damp hair, blow dried and curled, then finished with their Control Hairspray to make sure my ringlets last through the night and sometimes even through the next day because day-old curls are the best.

You can definitely tell the difference between my straight hair and my curled hair after it’s been treated with hair masks, overnight conditioning and the right hairspray. It just looks healthier and happier! I can’t say enough good things about my Living Proof experience – it’s kind totally worth the investment, even if you just start with the Restore Mask or the Nightcap (or this awesome intro kit!). Do you have any hair care tips for long locks? I would love to hear your thoughts in the comments below!

Today, I’m hopping on board Royal Carribean’s Anthem of the Seas for a weekend-long cruise with James and a bunch of blogger friends. Not gonna lie, I haven’t been on a cruise since I was 12-years old … so I imagine it’s going to be just a little bit more wild. The major question on my mind though: what do you pack for a fall cruise? Temps are going to be chilly, so floral or nautical-inspired layers are key. Think a cozy striped sweater and slip on sneakers for boarding, an easy one-piece for indoor poolside activities and a flirty dress and wine-colored pumps for dinner.
We’ll be on one of the first people checking out the ship for the pre-inaugural voyage out of New York and I can’t wait to share the experience with you when I get back. For a sneak peek of the adventure, you can follow along on Instagram or Snapchat (username: SkirtTheRules). Happy weekending friends!
