Today’s alternative title: how to dress for fall when it’s still hot as balls outside.

If I see one more poncho or felt floppy hat, I might set it on fire. My one gripe with the retail world is that “fall” is full swing by the beginning of August. It makes shopping for end-of-summer vacations especially hard. We’re heading to Italy for our honeymoon next week and no, I’m packing caftans, not cashmere!

So what’s a girl to do?

I started transitioning my summer wardrobe by keeping warm weather styles in play, but focusing on a rich, jewel-toned color palette. Case in point: this floral midi skirt that I got back in May. On its own, it screams spring/summer, but paired with a dark emerald cami and a fuchsia clutch and it’s much more toned down for fall.
