Fall 2015 Handbag Trends

New season, new bag. That’s how it works, right? I’m by no means ready for fall weather, but I’ll admit – it’s one of my favorite seasons to shop for, especially when it comes to handbags. To ease into the autumn mindset, I rounded up my top five favorite handbag trends for fall. Read on, to see if you agree!

Saddle Bags: The 70’s are back! I’m loving the modern take on this boho-inspired trend. I’m currently lusting after is the Chloe ‘Drew’ crossbody bag – but let’s be real – it probably isn’t happening unless I can gather a few friends to split the cost four ways (Sisterhood of the Traveling Chloe Bag, anyone?!). Rebecca MinkoffAnn Taylor, Urban Outfitters make way more affordable options.

Fringe: Fringe is a little bit of everywhere – on sandals, booties, skirts and even jewelry, but a fringed handbag is a showstopper. Go with just a touch or all over – this boho-inspired detail can take any classic bag to the next level.

Suede: Did I mention that the 70’s are back? I didn’t mean to pick three consecutive trends inspired by the same era, but it’s clearly back in full force. Nothing kicks off fall like the return of suede, especially with the help of this gorgeous merlot tote or a classic black hobo bag.  It’s one of my favorite textures of the season and will wear well into winter.

Bucket Bags: It took me a while to pull the trigger on bucket bags – I didn’t think it was an optimal shape for an everyday bag, but my favorite style from Old Navy proved me wrong. It holds everything – my camera, wallet, sunglasses and all the other random things I schlep around day to day. The functional shape has been around for a while, but it’s updated for fall in rich tones like olive, burgundy and cognac.

Backpacks: Even though I’ve long since graduated college, I still consider fall and “back to school” shopping as one in the same and I still love a good backpack – especially when I’m running or biking around town. I especially love the utility of the Herschel ‘Dawson’ backpack and the feminine details of the ‘Kerrington’ from Tory Burch.
