Spring is in the air — sort of. Despite the fact that there’s still piles of dirty snow sitting on the sidewalks, the days are feeling longer and full of more sunshine. I call that a win. Soon enough, the streets will be lined with blossoms and spring wardrobes will be in full bloom. It’s hands down my favorite time of the year.

To celebrate first hint of spring in NYC, I’m sharing two ways to start incorporating floral prints into your wardrobe. It’s all about mixing textures and shapes — like this flared skirt with a chunky knit or a flowy blouse with leather leggings — so that you’re ready for the new season, but prepared in case Mother Nature decides to change her mind.

It’s been an interesting month in NYC so far. Mother Nature decided to dump one last pile of snow on us before the temps hit a glorious 45°F this weekend (can you believe this Arizona girl gets excited about the mid-40’s?). The only downside of being stuck in between the end of the winter and the first signs of spring: waiting for the snow to melt. It’s like we’re stuck in this wet and slushy limbo and — let me tell you — it’s not fun.
As we impatiently wait out this transition, you can probably find me kicking through mountains of dirty snow in a pair of leopard rain booties. I’ve already traded in my thick knits for lighter layers, like this easy sweater and tunic combo and once it hits 50°F, I can almost guarantee that I’ll be bare legged. Too soon? Or not soon enough? Spring, where you at?!

There are two things about the weekend that I absolutely love: the second I leave the office on Fridays and the moment I wake up in the morning on Saturdays. Unless I’ve had a late night out, I barely ever sleep in on weekends anymore — it’s kind of a gift and a curse. I wake up feeling like the possibilities are endless, but also with a sense of urgency. Like I need to jump out of bed and do as many productive, fun and/or Instagram-worthy things in the next 48 hours.
Blame it on the city life. There’s always something to do. Somewhere to be. Some workout class I need to drag myself to. I fill up my weekends with errands, brunch dates, blog photos and by the time I know it, it’s Sunday night and I’m left wondering where the time went. Does anyone else have this problem?
For most people, this is a no brainer, but I’m starting to learn how to chill out on weekends — to cast aside the FOMO of not having the coolest/craziest/most productive weekend ever. To remind myself that it’s okay to sleep in, lounge around in my favorite t-shirt and sweats and binge watch season 3 of House of Cards. Happy Friday friends! Here’s to a relaxing weekend ahead!
