Whether you love it or hate it, Valentine’s Day is right around the corner.  I get why some people are turned off by this high pressure, overpriced holiday, but it’s more about what you make of it than how much you spend for it. Last year, James and I started a new tradition where I take him out for dinner the night before V-Day and he cooks me a meal at home the evening of.  We avoid the crowds and the ridiculously priced prix-fixe menus and spend more time enjoying what really matters.

But just in case you want to throw in a little something extra, I rounded up my favorite Valentine’s Day gift ideas for guys and girls.  A delicious homemade meal and a carefully curated present?  That sucks, said no one ever. For her (aka me!), a brightly-colored crossbody bag or a little coral dress would be the perfect gifts to usher in spring.
