Gone to Great Lengths

Black Maxi Dress & Leopard Scarf

I don’t think I’ve ever had much luck with maxi dresses.  Since I’m only 5’2″, there’s usually a few inches of fabric puddling at my feet.  Lately though, I’ve been browsing petite sections of my favorite brands and finding the perfect maxis left and right.  It all started with this flowy floral number, followed by the same cut in teal and now that I know where to find the right size for me, I don’t think I’ll be stopping anytime soon.

  4. I feel your pain. I have the same issue but on the opposite side of the spectrum. I think I can feel your excitment. Finding a piece (pant, dress, skirt or shorts) that is the perfect length is everything.

I’m with you…I’ve yet to find one that doesn’t drag along the ground! I’ve pretty much given up on maxi dresses and decided I’ll stick to my fit+flares 🙂

  7. Gorgeous! I totally understand the struggle of finding a maxi dress since I’m only 4’11. I have that same teal one from Loft and was so surprised when it actually fit me perfectly and I didn’t have to get it hemmed. This is gorgeous and I have been searching for a perfect black maxi so I definitely need to check this one out. I love how you added the leopard print scarf and I can totally imagine pairing this with a denim jacket when it gets colder.

I totally understand where you’re coming from. I’m 5’0″ and it’s so hard finding maxi dresses or skirts. I think I’ve only found one maxi dress and one maxi skirt that doesn’t drag. I love this look! I will definitely have to try the ann taylor’s petite section.

  12. You look absolutely gorgeous, Jen! I’ve never been much of a maxi girl either but only because every dress I find seems to be way too long unless I wear ridiculous heels (totally not gonna happen unless I want to trip and fall on my face). Can’t wait to check out Ann Taylor’s selection now!
