I’m kicking off the series with a night out in the East Village, one of my go-to neighborhoods for food, dessert and pickleback shots. I started off last weekend catching up with a BFF over burgers, followed by a little late night debauchery at the bars. As an Arizona girl born and raised, hot summer weather never used to phase me. But as a recent New York transplant: I. Am. Dying. I’m such a light weight when it comes to humidity, so my solution for the past few days has been to throw on the most breathable layers possible — oh and yes, chop off my hair. So maybe one strategy is a little more extreme than the other, but at this point, I’ll do anything short of moving to Antarctica to stay cool.

So it might seem like I’ve been a little bit overdressed for the lake in the past few posts. The truth of the matter is, I spent most of my weekend in North Carolina in one piece dresses, v-neck tees, and cut-off denim. This cheap little getup ($12 dress, $10 sunglasses) is really as dressed up as I got over the course of my vacay and I didn’t mind one single bit!
