summer refresh.

You know how you can suffer from Seasonal Affective Disorder from lack of sunlight in the winter? Well I’m pretty sure you can get it from too much humidity in the summer. Last week was quite possibly the hottest, muggiest week of my entire life and the extended heat wave affected my mood, my energy and my motivation to do anything.

Thankfully, blogging keeps me inspired to get dressed in the morning — against all desire just to lay in bed by the air conditioner. So when it comes time to pull together an outfit, the creative juices start flowing, leading me to refresh an old top (last seen here) and an old skirt (last seen here) into a revamped outfit with a rejuvenated outlook on the day.

summer sequins.

There’s something about a touch (or punch) of sequin that adds instant glam to any outfit. Wearing sequins during the day is one of my favorite ways to combine casual and chic pieces. Because even though I don’t have any special occasions lined up, I won’t let that stop me from sprinkling in a little sparkle.

black + bright.

Today’s outfit is what I called my “toned down” look. I started with black and brown basics, because they always makes for an easy foundation, but it just wouldn’t be me without a few pops of color. A neon cardigan, a bright clutch, and bold nail polish and there you have it — an outfit that’s perfect to usher in the weekend. Happy Friday everyone!
