summer refresh.

You know how you can suffer from Seasonal Affective Disorder from lack of sunlight in the winter? Well I’m pretty sure you can get it from too much humidity in the summer. Last week was quite possibly the hottest, muggiest week of my entire life and the extended heat wave affected my mood, my energy and my motivation to do anything.

Thankfully, blogging keeps me inspired to get dressed in the morning — against all desire just to lay in bed by the air conditioner. So when it comes time to pull together an outfit, the creative juices start flowing, leading me to refresh an old top (last seen here) and an old skirt (last seen here) into a revamped outfit with a rejuvenated outlook on the day.

Excuse the radio silence over here, but I just came back from the most amazing holiday weekend in North Carolina! I spent the 4th on a much needed escape from the city life, complete with good food and great friends. To kick off the weekend, I donned a preppy and patriotic combo of red, white and chambray (with a watermelon blueberry drink to match!). And I couldn’t imagine a better dose of Americana than spending four straight in the great outdoors — thank you so much to my wonderful hosts!

Hello Monday, we meet again. The start of another work week calls for another something special to get me through the day. This time, it’s a geometric statement necklace that I scored on sale at a recent BaubleBar trunk show. These baubles are gonna pair perfectly with bright solid colors or bold graphic prints. Here, the necklace plays off a geometric print top for an outfit that’s all about clean lines and chic shapes.
