The Perfect Maxi

Summer Floral Maxi Dress

Even though I’m a bit on the short side (thanks mom and dad!), I love me a good maxi dress.  There’s something undeniably feminine about a full-length frock.  But still, at a staggering 5’2″, the perfect length is hard to come by.  Sure, I could put in the extra effort to get them tailored, but I prefer picking up pieces that don’t require a 1-3 day wait time.  They don’t call it ready-to-wear for nothing!

How to Wear a Floral Maxi Dress

So when I put on this wallpaper floral maxi dress from LOFT, it was love at first sight.  I bought it in petites, so the hem was already hovering perfectly above the ground — even while wearing flats!  And oh hey there side slit — don’t mind if I channel a little Angelina Jolie.  I’ll probably be scooping up this dress in turquoise ASAP because all dresses are 40% off at LOFT right now!  Happy Monday!

Summer Stripes

Mixed Stripes Outfit

By now, you probably know that I’m a big proponent of mixed prints.  It’s a fun way get creative with your wardrobe and if you haven’t tried it yet, you should!  If you’re just starting out, start off with some stripes because they’re the easiest to pair: floral and stripes, leopard and stripes, random geometric patterns and stripes — you name it, you can pair it!

Gentle Fawn Colorful Bodycon Skirt

For something a little more advanced, try mixing two of the same prints in different (but complementing) sizes and colors.  A little striped cami paired with a colorful striped skirt?  It’s the recipe for a sizzling summer outfit.

Monochromatic Midi
