The purple maxi dress is back — this time with a spring twist. My H&M bird print blouse added the perfect spring touch to this classic maxi. I’ve been really keen on tying blouses over dresses and skirts since it really jazzes up an otherwise one note piece. After all, there’s nothing more satisfying than breathing new life into old clothes.

I’m totally crushing on this blue and turquoise striped t-shirt dress from Forever 21. It’s another simple and affordable (hello $10!) staple that can be dressed up in plenty of ways. For starters, I threw on a chambray shirt, added a few pops of color, and embraced this lovely spring weather.

My friend Sarah can rock a maxi dress like no other (think tall, blonde, gorg). I, on the other hand, have to be super selective in finding a dress that doesn’t swallow me whole. So when Sarah told me that maxi dresses don’t work in the winter, I set out to prove her wrong.
Granted, I use the term “winter” loosely, considering we live in Arizona. Nevertheless, the challenge inspired me to adapt a conventionally summertime dress for cooler weathers. Layers are the obvious key to this transition and while I’m still sleeveless in November (75°F yesterday), a chunky cardigan or sweater would work just as well. Love ya Sarah!
