One of my favorite dresses is back for fall. I originally fell in love with this teal maxi dress from LOFT earlier this summer and I plan on wearing it until it’s too cold to be rockin’ the side slit. The best part is that transitioning a maxi from summer to fall doesn’t require that much effort. All you need is a denim jacket and a leopard clutch and you’ll have that dress doing double duty in no time. These days, a-lines dominate my wardrobe, but there was a time in my life when pencil skirts commanded their fair share of closet real estate. This was especially true while working in conservative offices, where black, gray and navy reigned supreme. I’m in a more creative environment now, but I still have a soft spot for the classic cut. Just serve it up with a side of summery stripes and the pencil skirt will always have a place in my heart.

Of all the directions that my personal style has been headed lately, I feel a particular pull towards scaling back. I’m completely drawn to uncomplicated outfits like this grey swing dress, a simple chevron necklace and my favorite tasseled bucket bag.
