I couldn’t be happier that the weekend is finally here! I’m so ready to throw on another pair of floral shorts (which are on major sale right now) and call it a week. I wore this pair last week (also ridiculously cheap) and I’m beginning s to see a pattern here: I love floral prints, super comfortable shorts and FRIDAYS. But I think the last one is a given. Plans for this weekend? Brunch al fresco and my very first SoulCycle class ever taught by Hallie — I’m excited to finally see what the cult-status hype is all about. Follow me on Snapchat (username: skirttherules) for more summer adventures and have a wonderful weekend!

I never realized that “June Gloom” was a thing until recently. We’ve been having a few showers here and there, but the mother of all summer storms rolled through NYC yesterday. When I say it went from sunshine to raining sideways in a hot second, I’m not exaggerating. It also happened to be the same day that 1) didn’t bother to check the weather in the morning and 2) forgot my wallet, leaving me with no choice but to bike home from work … in a pretty floral dress … drenched. Needless to say, yesterday was filled with a few poor life choices.
Shop Bright Sundresses:
Back to the point at hand: I’m over this rainy day situation as much as I was over snow days last winter. I signed up for sunshine and clear skies and stacked my closet accordingly. I recently got this open-back sundress, this floral maxi print (and matching romper!) and this striped linen dress. Needless to say, the weather needs to start cooperating ASAP.

My favorite thing about getting out of NYC is seeing it from afar. If you follow me on Snapchat (username: skirttherules), you saw that I was in Brooklyn on Sunday evening to watch my husband play soccer (and maybe to take blog photos… #multitasking). Williamsburg is only one stop out of the city, but it feels like a world away. Things are a little quieter and a lot more laid-back, so I followed suit and embraced those off-duty vibes.
Shop Tank Dresses:
I wish I could say I was cool and always tie a button-up shirt around my waist with ease, but I’m not. I haven’t rocked this look since the 90’s, but have been meaning to give it a whirl again. I recently got this turquoise tank dress for summer, which I love because it’s so soft and simple! Still though, something felt like it was missing so I grabbed the coziest chambray shirt in my closet and voilà — extra cool points and an extra layer to keep me warm when the summer breeze rolls through.
