Skirt The Rules // Cropped Trench Coat

In the spirit of sharing, I’m going to let you in on a not-so-secret secret: I am not a morning person — never have been and probably never will be.  Instead, I’m the kind of person that sets three different alarms every day and snoozes until the last possible minute.  Every.  Single.  Day.  This doesn’t bode well for a girl who has to make breakfast, get dressed and walk the dog before heading out the door.  So when I finally do get up for work during the week, I end up running around my apartment like a Tasmanian devil.

Skirt The Rules // Cropped Trench Coat & White Dress

First thing’s first: I throw open my closet and do a little on-the-spot styling.  A drop-waist dress is pretty much fool proof, but I’ll add an extra piece like this cropped trench coat just for good measure.  Plus, when you work for a fashion brand, you should at least look like you put some thought into getting dressed in the morning.  Words to live by!

Skirt The Rules // Cropped Trench Coat & Leopard ClutchIn terms of hair, it’s almost always guaranteed that I’m walking out the door with day-old curls.  Ain’t nobody got time to wait around for a curling iron to heat up.  Instead, I’ll breath a little life back into my locks with by spritzing on TRESemmé Perfectly (Un)done Sea Salt Spray and twisting and twirling the curls with my fingers for a tousled texture.  Afterwards, I’ll lay on hairspray from the same collection for enough volume and shape to get me through the day.  It’s a little bit wavy, a little bit undone and just enough to do the trick.

Ann Taylor Cropped Trench Coat & Clare Vivier Leopard Clutch

With such a quick and easy hair routine, I feel like a pit crew at the Daytona 500 every morning. Now if I could just get someone to fuel me up with coffee!  For more hair inspiration and tutorials, click here.

panasonic beauty + a giveaway!

Panasonic Nanoe Hair DryerA few weeks ago during NYFW, Panasonic invited me backstage at the Diego Binetti runway show as one of their LUMIX Style Correspondents.  They armed me with a Lumix GM1 camera and gave me a sneak peek of the models’ hair and makeup before the show.
Panasonic Nanoe Hair DryerThen they let me test out the same hairstyling tools at home!  Truth be told, I didn’t even associate Panasonic beyond cameras and televisions, so I was curious to see how the Nanoe Hair Dryer and Nanoe Flat Iron would stack up against my usual hairstyling routine.
Panasonic Nanoe Hair DryerTurns out, I’m a convert.  The “nanoe” technology works just like usual ionic/ceramic tools, but locks in even more moisture to your hair.  The blow dryer took my hair from damp to dry in a matter of minutes and left my hair feeling super silky.

Panasonic Nanoe Flat IronThe flat iron was just as fast — as in, burnt my finger ten seconds after turning it on fast.  But at least it was easy on my hair!  I may or may not have ran the iron over the same section of hair four or five times while shooting for this post.  Once I got the perfect shot (below), I was delightfully surprised to see that the “nanoe” technology protected my locks from getting burnt to a crisp.

Panasonic Nanoe Flat Iron So now it’s your turn!  I’m teaming up with Panasonic to give away both the Nanoe Hair Dryer and Nanoe Flat Iron to one lucky reader!  Enter using the widget below, because I know a certain furry someone who wouldn’t mind stealing these fabulous hairstyling tools for himself.  The contest ends Sunday, March 2, 2014 at 12:00 AM EST.  Good luck!Panasonic Nanoe Hair Dryer

summer nails.

Just like clothing, I prefer to rotate nail polishes according to the seasons and summer calls for a few of my favorite hues.  Bright, bold shades of pink are a constant (I really like pink), but there a few new colors I want to try this summer.  Oranges, corals, and nudes are on the top of my list.  How about yours?
