Swimwear is so much more fun with a bump!
Last month, James and I went to the Big Island of Hawaii for our babymoon (babymooning during a pandemic is a little more complicated, but not impossible – but I’ll save that for another post!). If you are looking for maternity swimwear or bump-friendly swimsuits for your upcoming babymoon, a beach vacation or just a good ol’ pool day, I’ve got you covered!
Honestly, when it comes to maternity friendly swimsuits, I didn’t want to splurge a lot. If you’re looking for cute swimwear that’s still budget friendly, Amazon is your best bet! I brought a mix of non-maternity, bump friendly bikinis and maternity one-piece swimsuits.
For maternity swimwear, you can go with your normal size – these swimsuits are designed with extra fabric and cut in a way that hugs your bump (this fuchsia one piece and this dark navy floral swimsuit were my favorites).
For non-maternity, bump friendly swimsuits, I opted for high-waisted bikinis because I prefer the coverage (even pre-pregnancy!), but I know mamas-to-be that looked great in lower cuts! I specifically looked for bottoms that had a bit of ruching on the sides, which means the bottoms have a little extra give (or rather, forgiveness). I also sized up from an XS/S to a M. This non-maternity one-piece swimsuits was also a good option because of the ruching and the fact that you can adjust the top portion (helpful if you need to size up for the bump, but your breasts didn’t size up at the same scale).
I’ve gotta say – I love rocking the bump in a bikini. Not only does it feel good to “let it all hang out” so-to-speak, but it’s a reminder that our bodies are made for incredible things and that is something worth showing off to the world!
