How to Wear a Summer Dress for Fall

Pardon the radio silence over here, but I’m still recovering from 1.5 months of nonstop travel!

Denim Jacket / Brown Felt Hat (only $16 and comes in 30+ colors!) / Blue Floral Dress / Burgundy Clutch (comes as part of a set) / Cream Ankle Booties

I’ve been out of town for the past six weekends in a row, and as much as I love to travel, I’m kind of excited to stay put for a while – plus my apartment is a disaster (let’s just say James hasn’t fully unpacked from South Africa yet and we got back a month ago!).

But I still have a lot of photos from our travels to share, including a bunch of outfits that we shot in our last trip – Banff, Canada. There’ll be a lot more coming on Banff, but I wanted to start with a transition into fall outfits.

Usually, I’m the kind of person that dreads fall starting in August – shorter days, lower temps and the inevitable arrival of winter. But for some reason, fall is a welcome breath of air this year. Maybe it was the time we spent outdoors in Banff a few weeks ago, but I’m genuinely excited to start layering on the pieces.

But that doesn’t mean I’m switching the wardrobes ASAP. I’m still leveraging summery styles like this blue floral dress and pairing it with a denim jacket, felt hat and ankle booties. It’s so simple and easy – and the best of both worlds!

Oh I’m feeling the opposite this year – usually I’m so amped for fall and fall clothes, but this year I want summer to last forever!! Probably because we’ve only had summer temps in Chicago for like a month 😉
