When I first started blogging and discovering my personal style, I was all about mixed prints and pops of color (case in point: my very first #OOTD). Fast forward six years and I’m beginning to think that my perspective has started to shift into neutral territory. Literally.

Recently, while getting dressed every day, I started to feel like I had nothing to wear even though my closet was brimming with cute, colorful clothes. Champagne problems, I know, but it was a pretty frustrating feeling. How was it possible that I had so much clothes, but never felt like I could effortlessly put together an outfit? I started to wonder whether I was outgrowing my style.

I constantly go through my closet, pulling things to donate or sell. Most of the time it’s easy, but sometimes there’ll be something I just can’t get rid of quite yet — like a bright yellow floral top that’s just too cute or a bright red midi skirt that I might want to wear during the holidays. Meanwhile, I find myself constantly gravitating toward the same simple blouses, a pair of fluid pants and an easy black dress week after week. My mind is saying one thing, but my style is saying something else.

If you take a look at my Instagram feed lately, you’ll start to notice a pattern in my preferred color palette and you’ll see that it began as recently as a month ago. Pale pinks, light blues, camel, white, black and navy. They’re what I consider my neutrals and I think the sooner that I realize that my style has truly shifted, the sooner I can curate my closet and get back to creating outfits that come more effortlessly. Have you seen your style transform? I would love to hear how you adapted over time!

I’m still working on transforming my style to be honest. I’m the opposite from you, I want to incorporate more colour in my wardrobe. My clothes seem so dull and outdated and I want to add a bit more fun to it. I’m sure one day I’ll get tired of it too and go back to neutrals though haha

Haha I think I’m the same way! I used to be all about bright and bold outfits and lately my outfits have been neutral and simple. Funny how blogging does that!
I adore this look, especially that blush top!
