Have you ever thought yourself: this week, I’m going to crush it at work, hang out with all of my friends and write all of my blog posts in advance … only to not accomplish of those things. Guilty as charged.

I’ll be the first one to admit: I’ve sucked at blogging lately. I used to be able to share a new post every day, but now I’m lucky if I get one or two up per week. My new job (you can read about it here) has been incredibly exciting and fulfilling, but it’s also mentally exhausting trying to ingest all of the new information. We’ve also been traveling a lot lately (Austin, San Diego and Miami), which means I’m physically exhausted after every weekend. So it’s no surprise that by the time I come home from either work or vacation, that all I want to do is ball my eyes out watch This is Us.

The thing is though – there was a time in my life where I would be stressed out by the fact that I didn’t have five posts up every week and at least one Instagram photo per day. It was FOMO in the sickest sense. I’ll call it FONS: Fear of Not Sharing. But who was I kidding? No one else is stressing over the fact that I haven’t posted yet. The feeling was all self-inflicted and sadly, sometimes I feel like I prioritized the blog over more important things, like spending time with friends or reading a book.

Now I’ve been in the game for so long that it doesn’t bother me as much any more. I still try and post a few outfits and thoughts every week, but I don’t beat myself up about it if I don’t. Sure, I might not be gaining followers as rapidly or whatever, but in the end, does that really matter? I have to admit, I’ve been much happier with this laissez-faire attitude when it comes to blogging. And I’d like to think that when I do set time to write, I’ve been producing more quality content than I ever have. And that to me, is the best kind of balance.

So to my full-time working, full-time blogging and full-time life-enthusiasts out there: how do you balance it all? Let me know in the comments section below!

Delayed comment, but I loved this post! I first had a blog in college, and I totally took for granted how easy it was to keep up a daily posting schedule. So much free time! Now, doing it while holding down a real job is much more difficult. Now, I try to do a post or two over the weekend, and one or two during the week. Five posts a week seems pretty unattainable now, but who knows, maybe one day! I think it’s good to not beat yourself up about it. In the end, this is something you do for fun, too, and stressing about it isn’t fun! And of course, the people in our lives are the most important, and nothing is worth sacrificing the relationships that are important to you!
