A Super Flattering Ruched Dress

I couldn’t tell you when the last time I wore something ruched. Just hearing the word alone reminds me of some sort of tacky, overworked outfit from the 90’s. But underneath this coat is one of the most flattering knit dresses in my wardrobe right now.

When I first saw this dress online, I had some hesitations. Would it work with my body type or would it just make me look – for a lack of a better word – hoochie? I decided to give it a chance and I’m so glad I did! Turns out, ruching actually helps play up curves if you don’t have them, which is great for athletic or boyish body types. The cinching at the midsection helps to create the illusion of a feminine shape. I kept things casual with a striped scarf and a pair of ankle booties, but I can’t way to play around with this newfound flattering fit in the future!

P.S. Trending right now: my favorite camel coat of all time.
