I packed the most gorgeous scarf print maxi dress with this exact backdrop in mind. Pretty sure it was meant for twirling around the streets of Santorini (although weddings and special occasions are more likely activities). The vibrant contrast of bright blues and stark whites – how could you not fall in love with a dress like this in a place like this?
As I mentioned in my first post about Santorini, we stayed in the most northern town of Oia, where the cliffs are covered with white-washed homes and dotted with brilliantly blue-domed churches. This one, coupled with the coral bell tower, is probably the most photographed images in all of Greece and it’s relatively easy to find. As you wander the main street in Oia, you’ll pass some high-end jewelry shops and take a left towards the cliffs. The view was so incredible, we came back twice (once during the evening and once on the next day).
Sidenote about blog life versus real life: I’ve been seeing a lot of bloggers who recently traveled to Santorini and have shared their magically perfect standing-at-the-edge-of-the-world kind of photos. It makes me laugh because the behind-the-scenes is a completely different. Most rooftops in Oia have signs posted prohibiting people from climbing over and standing on the ledge for these perfect shots. I’m typically not a rule breaker, but I will do whatever it takes for a shot – including tip-toeing onto a hotel roof at 6:30 AM. Poor James, I basically coerced him into following me in order to take the photos, but it was so worth it, wasn’t it?
Such a stunning dress, I love the colour and pattern. And the scenery is just perfect, beautiful beautiful churches.
