Nine times out of ten, I’d pick a small business over a chain because I love exploring and supporting local establishments. Well today’s post is about that one exception.

I had very few things on my to-do list while visiting Seattle two weeks ago and one of them was to visit the Starbucks Reserve Roastery & Tasting Room. Yes, there are a million+ coffee shops to choose from in Seattle, but the big brand still has me wrapped around its finger. What I loved about it was that I felt like I was in a highly caffeinated test lab, from being able to watch the roasting process to trying out new concoctions not sold in regular stores. I sipped a sparkling espresso, made with a shot of espresso, mint, demerara syrup and a sparking float (whatever that means). I felt like a kid in a candy store. Or, to be a little less metaphorical, like a sleep-deprived adult in the most glorious coffee shop.
