After a few outfits full of dark shades, I’m back to brights today. What can I say? I love what I love. And while I enjoy dabbling in fall colors like oxblood and mustard and muted tones like cream and camel, a good pop of color (or two or three) will never get old.
And don’t forget that today’s the last day to enter to win the Red Riding Bangle from Lipstick Rose. Submit your entries below by 11:59 PM EST tonight and I’ll announce the winner tomorrow! Good luck!

Since moving to NYC, black has definitely played a more prominent role in my wardrobe. Sure, it’s chic and professional, but it’s also the perfect canvas for some major pops of color. Afterall, it wouldn’t be my kind of outfit with some bold hues or playful prints.

Getting around town is one of the easiest, yet most challenging aspects of living in NYC. Everything is in “walking distance” — my definition of which has increased from a few blocks to a few miles since I’ve moved here. To adapt, I try and create versatile outfits — looks that work while running around town for brunch, coffee, and errands. To me, comfort will always come first, but that doesn’t mean utility and creativity are mutually exclusive.
For starters, walkable shoes are key. I usually stash a pair of flip flops in my bag, but these Dolce Vita sandals were comfortable enough for a two-mile stroll from one side of the island to the other this weekend. A large, neutral tote is also a must for all the schlepping that I do. From there, anything goes. I love layering a military-inspired jacket over a feminine dress and tying it all together with a dash of leopard. And there you have it: a super easy outfit for a day around the city!
