Excuse the radio silence over here, but I just came back from the most amazing holiday weekend in North Carolina! I spent the 4th on a much needed escape from the city life, complete with good food and great friends. To kick off the weekend, I donned a preppy and patriotic combo of red, white and chambray (with a watermelon blueberry drink to match!). And I couldn’t imagine a better dose of Americana than spending four straight in the great outdoors — thank you so much to my wonderful hosts!

Happy Independence Day! To celebrate, I rounded up a few of my favorite patriotic posts while I hop on a plane and visit one of my favorite married couples in North Carolina. june 2013 recap.

one / two / three / four

This is about the time of year that I begin frantically searching where the past six months went. I can’t believe June is already over. I’d say that January feels like yesterday, but the mix of heat waves and summer storms make that statement seem a little bit farfetched.

Back to the matter at hand: June has brought about a few of my all-time favorite outfits (don’t I say that every month?), chock full of twirly skirts and darling dresses. But now that summer is in full effect, I’ll be trading in my springtime gear for outfits that are more apropos for the sweltering heat and spontaneous adventures. Can’t wait to share!
