As a prelude to spring, I’m busting out the brightest hues in my closet all week. But after Monday’s over the top color combo, I thought I’d turn it down — just a notch.

The last time I wore this neon lace skirt, I was completely decked out for summer. To make this standout piece work while transitioning from winter to spring, I balanced the bold color with a cream sweater, leopard heels and simple accessories.

I’m all about mixing spring clothing into my winter wardrobe — and from the looks of it — the guy photobombing in the background agrees completely!

pink + patterns.

Maybe it was my bright pink coat or maybe it was the fact that I was the only girl in NYC walking around town sans tights, but I got a lot of looks strolling through Union Square yesterday. And even though spring is still three weeks away, I’m already in the spirit of bright, bold colors and there’s no turning back from that — even if means that I stand out in a sea of black down jackets and wool coats.

When I’m not daydreaming about warmer weather, I’m experimenting with ways to spruce up my winter wardrobe. The reality is that spring is still a month away and I need to work with what I’ve got. So I pulled out a pair of brown faux leather pants and leopard print pumps for an outfit that will be perfect for running around downtown this weekend. Happy Friday everyone!
