I must not be feeling like myself lately. Yesterday, I traded in my brights for neutrals, and today — probably for the first time ever — I’m pulling a bit of boho in my outfit. You may have noticed, but my looks are generally classic, prim, preppy and sometimes even a little punk-inspired, but I’ve never really dabbled in la vie bohème.

Well this Gentle Fawn dress was the perfect excuse to experiment with my style. The earthy colors are the perfect compromise between my love of color and my recent desire to tone it down a few notches. Paired with my new favorite tassel necklace and chevron-adorned sandals, and I’m pretty sure I could get used to this.

Guys, I’m so torn. I’m not ready for summer to be over, but I’m actually excited to trade in my brights ensembles for something a little simpler (go ahead and rub this in my face in six months). I mean, they don’t call neutrals a classic for no reason — they look and feel effortless and timelessly sophisticated. So while I’m stuck in between seasons, I’ll be sticking with lighter layers, but reaching for more subtle shades.

post-vacay blues.

Last week, I went off the grid during my trip back home to the west coast — no posts, no Instagrams, and only a handful of random tweets (to celebrate my first bite of In ‘n Out in almost a year, obvi). The radio silence made me slightly uneasy, but I was in desperate need for a little unplugging. Now I’m back in NYC and suffering a major case of post-vacay blues. The cure?
