Immediately following our afternoon in the Hamptons on Saturday, James, Tracy and I drove another 45 minutes to the most eastern point of the island. We visited the Montauk Point Lighthouse — New York’s oldest lighthouse. The sun was quickly setting, but we made it just in time to take in the coastal fixture and wander down to the shore so that Tracy could see the Atlantic Ocean for the first time ever.

And as summer quickly comes to an end, I thought I’d make use of a few of my favorite warm-weather staples one last time. It’s hard to transition away from my favorite season of the year, but I’m glad I got to have one hell of a weekend say goodbye.

hamptons happy.

This past Saturday, James, Tracy and I took a road trip to the Hamptons. Considering that it was the first time that any of us had ever been, I couldn’t have asked for a more perfect start to the weekend. We started with lunch in Southampton, followed by a little shopping on Main Street.

And even though our visit was brief, I couldn’t help but be overwhelmed with a kind of joy that is sometimes lacking when I’m in the city. Outside of Manhattan, time moves a little bit slower and live feels a little bit more relaxed. I completely understand the draw of the Hamptons and definitely plan on being back next season!

Tune in later this week for the next leg in our weekend adventure. Hint: it’s even more peaceful than the Hamptons!

august 2013 recap.

one / two / three

Another month bites the dust. This weekend may mark the end of summer, but the season feels like it’s been wrapping up all month long. One look at my August outfits and you can tell that I’ve been dabbling in the fall palette. Maroon, navy, and black are creeping back into my wardrobe. I promise to hang onto as much color as I can, but it’s time to accept that fall is almost here!
