Chambray & Crochet

Let’s rewind to this past weekend, when I basically lived in an outfit of chambray and crochet. I was so excited to snag these summer shorts for 70% off after passing them up over three months ago! So excited that I couldn’t take them off. I took them out to Brooklyn for drinks one night and then to the Upper West Side the next day for brunch. I wore it two days in a row and thankfully, the boyfriend didn’t judge. Love is patient, love is kind. I’d have to agree on both accounts.

Scaling Back

Of all the directions that my personal style has been headed lately, I feel a particular pull towards scaling back. I’m completely drawn to uncomplicated outfits like this grey swing dress, a simple chevron necklace and my favorite tasseled bucket bag.

Don’t get me wrong, I will always be a sucker for neon skirts and pretty prints, but sometimes, it just feels good to simplify because then it makes those show-stopping numbers feel even more special. What’s your style strategy this summer?

The Perfect Maxi

Even though I’m a bit on the short side (thanks mom and dad!), I love me a good maxi dress. There’s something undeniably feminine about a full-length frock. But still, at a staggering 5’2″, the perfect length is hard to come by. Sure, I could put in the extra effort to get them tailored, but I prefer picking up pieces that don’t require a 1-3 day wait time. They don’t call it ready-to-wear for nothing!

So when I put on this wallpaper floral maxi dress from LOFT, it was love at first sight. I bought it in petites, so the hem was already hovering perfectly above the ground — even while wearing flats! And oh hey there side slit — don’t mind if I channel a little Angelina Jolie. I’ll probably be scooping up this dress in turquoise ASAP because all dresses are 40% off at LOFT right now! Happy Monday!
