I’ve had this faux leather skirt hanging in my closet for a while now, not sure what I was going to do with it.  For a while, the edgy vibe of the skirt intimidated me, but I recently got over my hesitation and found a way to style it to my liking.  I paired it with a brown tank for understated comfort and a statement necklace to balance out my upper half.  Leopard wedges and a structured clutch add to the edge with a little bit of class.

Working hard or hardly working?  That’s what my mother always jokingly (or maybe seriously …) asks me when I visit.  My standard answer: both.

The balance between work and play (with a slight tip toward the latter) is at the top of my priority list and fostering that business/pleasure equilibrium involves wearing outfits that transition easily from day to night.

Per usual, my 9-to-5 uniform starts with a skirt, but this time with a playful geometric pattern in a neutral palette.  I threw on a deep red boyfriend cardigan for a pop of color, classic closed-toe pumps, and a buttery yellow clutch.

After punching out, it’s time to play!  Happy hour, dinner with friends — you name it, I’m there.  The switch involves removing the cardigan, playing up the waist with a wide belt, and kicking off the pumps in exchange for some killer heels.  The darker clutch (thanks B!) ushers the pop of red into my nighttime look.

Now that we’re ready to hit the town … is it 5 o’clock yet?

I’m back!  2 weeks, 5 finals, and a case of sugar-free Red Bull later and summer is finally here!  I can’t explain how great it is to welcome back more carefree days, happy hours, and even the sweltering heat.  More importantly, I’m excited to get back at doing what I love to do most: working on my blog.

I hate to have left it unattended for so long, but I’m back in full force.  This is technically my last summer to truly enjoy myself before I graduate, cram for the bar, and enter the real world — so you better believe my summer plans will include some memorable (and excessively photographed) adventures.

For now, I’m kicking off the summer with bright prints, bold colors, and a big ol’ smile.  Summer feels good.  Real good.
